NewAR Roulette is among one of the latest table games to be released by Playtech. While the name of the game is a mystery, some have suggested that the name is an alternative spelling to ‘newer’ which would be very apt.

NewAR rules

By taking a seat at the virtual table, you will be able to place your bets via the chips on the table. There are many different betting options to choose from and thanks to the ‘no time limit’ feature, you can play to your own pace – no rushing around with NewAR Roulette. When you are happy with your chosen bets you start the game manually. The game will conclude with the ball sitting in a single pocket on the wheel – this will bet the winning bet and will correspond with the bets on the betting table.

What makes it different?

European roulette is what NewAR Roulette is based on – there’s the wheel with red and black pockets with the numbers 1 to 36 and then there is a single green pocket for the zero. The betting table takes up the majority of the screen, as there are so many different bets that can be placed. You have your standard bets such as straight, column, red/black and odd/even – then you have the racetrack of bets; Tier, Orphelins and Vosins du Zero and to the lower of the table you are offered; ‘Even + red/0’ and ‘Odd + black/0’. There is low music being played to add a casino floor atmosphere to your game, along with options to customise your tablecloth, change the camera angle and zoom into the wheel. Chip denominations are 1.00, 5.00, 10.00 and 25.00 and to place these onto the table you press the chip then press the section of the table you wish to place your bet.

House and limits

European roulette games have a standard house edge of 2.70% – as does NewAR Roulette. Betting stakes permitted are 1.00 minimum and 25.00 maximum.

Strategies required

Martingale roulette strategies will benefit from NewAR Roulette as it offers a double up and spin option. Players who don’t follow any specific strategy will do best to analyse the history panel and place their bets accordingly. If you are looking to make as much money as possible, then straight bets are required with the biggest return of 35 to 1.

Other games by software provider

Playtech have an impressive catalogue of online games ranging from bingo to slots. Table games however, are the most popular with titles such as; Mini Roulette, Casino Hold’em, 3D Roulette, Perfect Blackjack, Stravaganza and Tequila Poker among the player favourites.

Our verdict

While NewAR Roulette is a great addition to the online table game industry, it may not be suited to all players. The maximum table limits will not suit high rollers – the 25.00 max on straight bets is rather small in comparison to other roulette variants on offer. The gameplay and player interface is superb and allow for an enjoyable experience – the music however may start to vex you, so it’s great to know that this can be switched off. You can try before you buy with the demo version – which is great.
